So in case you’ve been hiding from the internet, you might not know that a blogger got sued for using an image on her blog. Even though she immediately took it down when asked, even though she was unaware it was copyrighted. She still got sued.
Gulp.
As an author, of course I’m sensitive to the idea of copyright law, and stuff like that. But with Google Images, it’s so easy to find the perfect image to go along with the blog. I guess I figured that I don’t post my books so people can easily grab it online without paying for it, and so I figured photographers would do the same to protect their work.
Apparently not.
So, if you wander through my older posts, you’ll notice that several of them don’t make sense any more, because the images are gone. It makes me sad, but what can I do? I don’t want a silly LOLcat to hurl me into a lawsuit that I can’t afford.
So from now on, my posts may look a little more “bland”.
Sucks, but I’m not willing to risk it anymore.

Hey Regina,
It makes you nervous to put anything on your site and a lot of the sites don’t say whether their pics are copyrighted or not. You would have thought he would have been happy for the PR. Like I always say–people just suck!!! LOL Have a great rest of the weekend!!
It definitely sucks!!! I had to take a ton of man candy pics down from my site. *cries* Because knowing my luck, I would be the one to get sued over a stupid picture that was definitely not worth it!! I just think that her getting sued was unnecessary b/c she took the pic down as soon as asked and it is not like she was profiting from the pic. But it is what it is and because of one a$$hat we all suffer!! LOL
Luckily I’ve used my own pics for my two covers. But I was thinking of sourcing something different for my next book. Now will have to think again. Difficult, but . . .
